Our staff is not only trained as teachers and dancers, they are musicians, athletes, artists, actors and models with performance and teaching experience all over the globe. People everywhere from NYC, Disney World and across the Caribbean have enjoyed the endless talents of our team.


Jeannette Knowles - Director
Jeannette took ownership of The Dance Academy of Windham and has propelled the studio to further greatness both in the classroom and in competition! She is always looking for new things to add to The Dance Academy to add a variety of dance education!! She has been dancing since just after her 2nd birthday. With a background in Tap,jazz, ballet, modern and Acro, Jeannette has performed all over the world, on cruise ships and even for the hometown Boston Celtics. Jeannette is also a graduate of Umass Lowell with a double major in marketing and management. At the age of 16, Jeannette furthered her passion for dance and began teaching. Teaching all ages, from toddlers to adults, Jeannette puts it best, “Watching a student grow into a beautiful dancer is the reason I do what I do. Sharing my love for dance & motivation with driven students brings out aspects of my self I can truly be proud of.”


Angela Sullivan - Artistic Director
Angela Sullivan has been dancing and doing gymnastics since the age of 3. She started assisting choreography at age 12 and her own classes at 14. She thrives on performing, and has a passion for story telling dance pieces. Angela has performed in numerous dance competitions across the US and at such prestigious venues such as T.D Bank Garden. She has performed & Sang at Salem's very own Canobie Lake Park. Her well-rounded dance background includes ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, improvisation, hip-hop and acrobatics. She has choreographed for several competitive dance and cheer leading teams in New England and often receives High Platinum awards, and overall wins. In 2011 ,2012, 2013 and 2014 she lead elite/ Senior team to an all platinum season! Angela's passion for dance is contagious, her students look forward to the end of the year show where they not only get to see her perform but dance beside her! She is very excited to continue make a difference in the lives of her students.


Laura-Jean Gendreau
Received her degree in Dance Education and Certification to instruct dance from Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, MA. A seasoned performer in both classical and contemporary styles, Ms. Gendreau has danced with the Northern Ballet Theatre’s Youth Ensemble under Doreen Cafarella and other freelance dance groups in a variety of venues around New England including SummerFun, Downtown Stroll, Choreographer’s Showcase at Pinkerton Academy, and Dance Rochester. Ms. Gendreau has refined her tap technique under Master tap teacher Susie Michaud, and studied the technique of Lester Horton under Michelle Deane. Ms. Gendreau is also a member of Touche Taps and performs under the direction of Shaina Schwartz.
